we have returned

I know...long time no blog. Well, we were out of town. Destination...South Padre Island, Texas. A week at the beach was soooo nice! We did the trip last year, but we drove. This year we flew and it was so much easier. 10 hours (each way) in the car was a bit much. Especially when I did all the driving because I don't trust my husband to stay awake at the wheel.
We rented a condo right on the beach. This is the view from our balcony...I was actually awake early to get this shot. Can you believe it? Me up before 7 am...who would have thunk it.

We did have a great time. My sister-in-law, her husband and their two boys were there as well. They were in a condo just below ours. It made it really nice and convenient to have them so close. We usually met up with them and walked to the beach together. It did rain a couple of days. One of which we had scheduled to ride horses on the beach, but they cancelled. I was a little disappointed, but there's always next year. I've actually never ridden a horse. I was born and raised in Texas and have never ridden a horse...how sad is that? I've sat on one for about 10 minutes when I was like 11 for a picture. What a dork!

Okay...so I'm not exactly sitting on the horse, but this was the only picture my mother could find.

We (especially me) ate a lot of seafood. The food is just so good and fresh. I probably ate my weight in shrimp and oysters. I think we ate out every night except one when I cooked spaghetti for everyone. Nice quality family time. My brother-in-law and oldest nephew went deep sea fishing one day. I was invited along. Okay...on the one hand, I had puking all day long on a boat I couldn't get off of and on the other all day at the beach. Needless to say, I chose the latter. I like to fish, but I like to still see land when I'm in the boat. That's just me.

Ethan had a GREAT time on the beach. Everytime we left the condo during the day and didn't go to the beach, he was livid. One morning he decided to get a head start and put on his shoes. He walked around for about an hour with one shoe on. It was so funny!
